Irene Juaniza (she/her) has worked as an organizer on various racial and economic justice issues both locally and nationally, including police brutality in Oakland, affordable housing in the Bronx, an elected representative school board in Chicago, state legislation supporting Chicagoland worker centers, and welfare reauthorization at the federal level.

2020: A year of Change, Transition and Action.

Ric joined the Wood Fund Chicago board of directors in 2010, bringing with him nearly three decades of leadership experience in human services, philanthropy, and government. His addition to the board deepened the foundation’s commitment to racial equity and community voice.

It is with great, great sadness that I write to you today. Lucia Woods Lindley, a founder and exceptional supporter of the Chicago Foundation for Women, passed away this past Monday in New York City.

In 2020, discomfort and transition have become the norm. It has also been the year in which many in the mainstream have finally recognized that institutional racism exists.
