DELAYED: Implementation of New City of Chicago Ordinance Requiring More Nonprofit Employees and Directors to Register as Lobbyists
The Chicago City Council recently amended the City’s Governmental Ethics Ordinance (the “Amended Ordinance”) to impose new registration and reporting requirements on individuals who interact with the City of Chicago on behalf of nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve. The new rules were to take effect January 20, 2020, but implementation has been pushed back to April 20, 2020 to provide the Board of Ethics more time to consider the various questions regarding the changes to the ordinance. During the delayed timeframe, Forefront will hold meetings to engage their Members and document questions and concerns.
