Bahati Aimee, Program Officer
Bahati Marie Aimee is of Rwandan heritage and born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — her experience as a daughter, sibling, friend, and refugee informs her passion for community, social justice, and belonging. Bahati is interested in how systems can innovate and influence one another to create valuable impact with the most critical community members. She approaches her work with a focused lens on intercultural environments that promote equity and justice.
She has worked in Milwaukee, WI, and Chicago, IL, as a program manager, grant writer, and community builder. She completed her undergraduate degree at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI — where she developed her commitment to social justice and her passion for storytelling, facilitation, and community advocacy. In 2018, she moved to Chicago and was immersed in public arts and culture as a grant writer for Navy Pier. In 2022, Bahati completed her master’s degree in Social Sector Leadership and Nonprofit Management at the University of Chicago — building her understanding of leadership and the roles of nonprofits, philanthropy, government, and business. Most recently, Bahati was co-creating a community-powered urban agriculture and food justice project and digital App, Community Food Navigator.
Bahati enjoys spending time with loved ones, pondering at the lakefront, and Amapiano music.
